Daffodil Daydream and Sunny Sentiments by Stampin’ Up

Today, I am featuring both the Daffodil Daydream and Sunny Sentiments stamp sets. Both sets are by Stampin’ Up. I was challenged to make a card using the colors Calypso Coral, Shaded Spruce, and Just Jade.

Color challenges can be hard! Most of the time there is no Designer Series Paper that will meet the requirements. This was the case for me this month. I decided to make my own paper! Enjoy watching the video to learn how I made my card.

Today’s Video

I love the scroll-type stamp from the Daffodil Dream stamp set. Additionally, the stamp allowed me to use any color I wanted to create a fun background! Together with the Sunny Sentiments stamp set, I was able to add my greeting easily. The bold, chunky fonts in the set were exactly what I needed to go with my dainty scrollwork.

Finally, I was able to add the adhesive-backed hexagons to compliment the modern design of my card. I love how funky and crisp my card turned out!

Two Daffodil Daydream and Sunny Sentiments Cards

This photo shows both my original card and the one that we made together on the video. My original photo shows the scroll stamping further apart. I can’t say I like one better than the other. Do you have a favorite?

As always, remember to be kind, send a card, and do something creative!

Flowers Of Friendship Color Challenge

Today, I will show you how I made my Flowers of Friendship Color Challenge card. The colors assigned this month were Early Espresso, Granny Apple Green, and Gorgeous Grape. This combination is not my favorite!

Today’s Video

I decided to use the Early Espresso to stamp my main image. Even though we could, I chose not to use Memento Black as I felt it just introduced another color into the strange mix!

The Watercolor Pencils by Stampin’ Up are the stars of the show today. I mistakenly referred to them as colored pencils in the video. These are most definitely not regular colored pencils! You color with them just like a colored pencil, but you can blend them smooth using various methods. As a result, you get a gorgeous finish to your image!

Version One Of My Flowers Of Friendship Card

This was my first version of the card. I decided that I would like a thinner strip of the Early Espresso exposed, Also, I didn’t love the strip of ribbon that ran down the side. It didn’t connect with the bow and I felt that looked strange.

An Additional Color Challenge Card

For this second card, I used products from the Elegantly Said Bundle. If I didn’t need to add the Gorgeous Grape or Early Expresso to this card, I would love it! I just might rip off the sentiment and do it again! A Gorgeous Grape flower decorates the inside of the card.

Color Challenges help us to learn and grow. The above card leads me to a monochromatic card idea! Take some time to play with your supplies. Let yourself go. Enjoy the process.

Thank you for joining me today! As always, remember to be kind, send a card, and do something creative!

Biggest Wish – July 2021 Color Challenge

Today I am making a card using the Biggest Wish stamp set. Also, we will be using our Stamparatus to stamp our images employing the hinge technique. This stamp set features both a large, chunky font and a more delicate, script font.

Biggest Wish Video

This month we were assigned the colors of Pacific Point, So Saffron, and Poppy Parade for our team color challenge. I love each one of the colors! When I first made this card I used Poppy Parade for the mat and stamped “birthday” in So Saffron. Which version do you prefer?

More Color Challenge Cards

This card features the Natural Textures Host stamp set and the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set. I love this happy little fun fold card! I think that we will need to revisit this fold very soon. It would work with any DSP and stamp set.

This last card is my personal favorite. The “splotch” stamp is from the Hydrangea Haven stamp set. Additionally, I stamped the floral images in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink using the Painted Poppies stamp set. The sentiment is from the Many Messages stamp set.

Butterfly Brilliance and Color Challenge

Today, I am using the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle for my May team color challenge. My team leader chooses three Stampin’ Up colors that we must use on our cards. We are only permitted to use these three colors plus Basic White or Very Vanilla cardstock and Basic Black ink. This month she chose Magenta Madness, Mango Melody, and Calypso Coral.

Today’s Video

This challenge produced some pretty but bright cards! I feel that Magenta Madness is the most intense color in our Stampin’ Up lineup. However, it is a very happy color. I decided to use the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle for the challenge. Butterflies can be imagined in any color. They can also be used for many different card occasions.

More Butterfly Brilliance Cards

I began the creative process with this card. It was my first time playing with some of the new products from the 2021-2022 Annual Catalog. And it was so much fun! Sometimes, we just need one aspect of a card decided for us to help get our creativity going.

The Ombre Specialty Paper was the only DSP type of paper that I owned in the assigned colors. But it added such vibrance and sparkle to my card! I also used Wink of Stella on my butterfly.

Please be sure to take the time to watch today’s video. There are just too many options with both the die and stamp sets to cover in writing here!

I used the Checks & Dots Embossing folder to create paper to decorate my envelope flaps. And I had plenty of leftover butterflies to adhere to the front of my envelopes and insides of my cards. This color combination ended up being an enjoyable one for me. Although, it might not be fitting for every occasion.

Of course, these challenges are totally optional. Team members that choose to participate are eligible for prizes. And who doesn’t love a good prize patrol? Right now, Stampin’ Up is running the Join+ promotion. You can become part of the fun. A starter kit is $99 and that includes shipping. In May, you get to choose $155 of products! That is the crazy, best deal I have seen them offer!

As always, remember to be kind, send a card, and do something creative!
